Just the monster.

Meet Frank. Release him from his corner cage, watch him become gigantic and terrifying, then let him shrink back down and devour your reading.

03NO CAGE

Already loose.

Frank starts eating as soon as an ordinary page is ready, with double-speed bites and faster line changes. No cage, release animation, restore button or popup pause toggle. Clicking Frank or pressing Escape does not dismiss him.

  • Double-speed bites and quicker movement
  • No cage or drag-to-cage behavior
  • Clicks pass through Frank to the page
  • Chrome Disable and Remove still work

All three downloads appear in Chrome as G3 with a neutral G3 icon. Choose one edition per browser. All keep Google Docs and editable fields untouched. Chrome’s Disable and Remove controls remain available.

WHAT’S NEW · 3.6.8

Your search. Frank’s chaos.

Full’s New Tab search now uses your chosen default search engine through Chrome’s Search API. The latest cage-return and feeding improvements remain included. All three developer editions use the G3 name and a neutral monogram in Chrome’s toolbar and extensions list. Frank stays Frank on this website and in the effects. Grab Frank and drop him anywhere in the highlighted corner. The first time, he strains against the bars, grows furious and breaks free to keep eating. Bring him back a second time: he settles into the cage and returns to normal. Release him again for another giant breakout and a fresh hunt. The Monster and Full editions include this cage behavior. Uncaged starts feeding automatically and has no cage. Full also adds a rotating crystal with shifting facets and fewer loose shards. Hiding small planets now keeps the giant New Tab world visible.

DOWNLOAD → EXTRACT → ADD TO CHROME

Files first.
Creature next.

Do not drag the files into Chrome. Dragging and dropping can open tabs of code instead of installing. Close those file tabs. You don’t open the JavaScript, HTML or manifest files. Chrome loads the entire extracted folder.

Choose an edition above, then follow these steps.

The website downloads a ZIP. It cannot add itself to Chrome. Installation is finished only when a G3 card appears in Chrome’s Extensions page.

  1. 01

    Save and extract the ZIP.

In Chrome, press Ctrl + J, find the Frank ZIP, and choose Show in folder. In File Explorer, right-click the ZIP → Extract All…Extract. Move the extracted folder somewhere you will keep it, such as Documents. Opening the ZIP without extracting it is not enough. The Load unpacked picker only shows folders, so your ZIP will not appear there. If you cannot find the download, use the PowerShell option below to extract it and open the exact folder automatically.

  2. 02

    Open Chrome’s extensions.

Copy chrome://extensions into Chrome’s address bar and press Enter. Turn on Developer mode in the top-right, then click Load unpacked.

  3. 03

Select the folder, not a file.

For any edition, select the folder created by Extract All. In v3.6.8, manifest.json is directly inside it—there is no extra extension subfolder. If you see another folder instead of manifest.json, open that folder first.

Click Select Folder in the Load unpacked dialog. Files may be hidden in this folder picker—that’s normal. Do not double-click a JavaScript file or drag the ZIP into a browser tab.

  4. 04

    Check it’s installed.

A G3 card should appear and be enabled in Chrome’s Extensions page. Refresh an ordinary website tab, close the extension popup, and click Release Frank on his corner cage. Uncaged starts automatically and has no release button. Google Docs and protected Chrome pages are excluded.

If uploading opens a tab of code, close that tab and use Load unpacked → Select Folder instead. If Chrome says the manifest is missing, select the folder containing manifest.json. If Developer mode or Load unpacked is blocked by your administrator, this installation method is unavailable on that browser.

ALSO AVAILABLE FROM YOUR TERMINAL

Pull it into your world.

On Windows, paste this into PowerShell. It downloads, checks and extracts the files, then shows the folder to choose in Chrome. You still finish with Load unpacked. On Mac, the command downloads the ZIP.

Windows PowerShell · download and extract

Enable JavaScript for the optional terminal command, or use the ZIP buttons above.

Download first, then follow the Chrome installation steps above.

What it changes. Effects can make text visually disappear until you restore it or refresh the page. They don’t edit saved messages or documents. The extensions send no page content to a server.

Where it runs. Ordinary HTTP/HTTPS tabs. Google Docs, Chrome settings, the Web Store and protected viewers are excluded. Frank detects readable page text, including tables and linked paragraphs; image/canvas text and inaccessible frames are not readable DOM text. Motion pauses in hidden tabs or fullscreen. Reduced motion is honored unless you explicitly allow creature animation. Chrome’s own removal and disable controls always work.

Updates & removal. Download a new version, replace the files in your loaded folder, reload the extension and refresh your tabs. To uninstall, choose Remove in Chrome’s Extensions page. Deleting a downloaded ZIP alone does not uninstall it.
