Keep Frank moving.

Find the extension

All three developer downloads appear as G3 in Chrome’s toolbar and extensions list, using a neutral G3 icon. This website still calls the character Frank. Click G3 to open the controls.

Uncaged edition

Uncaged starts feeding automatically with a 50 ms bite interval (twice the regular bite rate) and quicker line changes, without a cage, release animation or popup pause toggle. It does not replace New Tab. Uncaged has no Restore text button, and clicks pass through Frank without dismissing him. Escape leaves Frank running and still reaches the underlying page. Refreshing restores page text. Chrome’s Disable and Remove controls remain available. Google Docs and editable fields remain excluded.

Release him — Monster and Full

Refresh an ordinary website after installing or updating. Close the extension popup, then click Release Frank beneath his corner cage. Frank grows, breaks free, shrinks and starts eating visible letters.

Put Frank back in his cage

Click and hold Frank, then drag him to the cage that appears in the bottom-right corner. Let go anywhere inside the highlighted corner, including over the button. He stops eating while held. On the first return after each manual release, he pushes against the bars and breaks free to keep eating. Return him a second time and he settles into the cage, returning to normal until you click Release Frank again. Drop him elsewhere to let him resume hunting. A simple click still dismisses him.

Restore or bring him back — Monster and Full

Click the object to dismiss it. Escape clears the active effects. Open Frank's extension popup to bring effects back or restore text. Chrome's Disable and Remove controls always remain available.

No bites?

Google Docs, editable fields, Chrome settings, the Web Store and protected viewers are excluded. Image and canvas text cannot be eaten. Hidden tabs and fullscreen pause motion. If your computer prefers reduced motion, explicitly allow creature animation in Frank's popup. On dynamic pages, Frank can skip a changing or unavailable target and look for another meal.

Full edition and the New Tab planet

The Planet switch controls small visiting planets. It no longer hides the large New Tab world. Full keeps the gas giant, rings, moon and animated crystal. Its search box now respects your default search provider through Chrome’s Search API. If search cannot open, use Chrome’s address bar; Frank will never substitute another provider. Your existing effect choices remain saved. Monster only does not replace New Tab. Use one edition at a time.

Updating an unpacked copy

Replace the files in the folder Chrome already loads with the new ZIP contents, click Reload on G3’s card in chrome://extensions, then refresh your ordinary tabs and open a new tab. Downloading a ZIP alone does not update your installed copy. The popup should show v3.6.8.

Install a downloaded ZIP

Downloading alone does not install an extension. Extract the ZIP, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked and select the folder containing manifest.json. Do not drag individual files into Chrome. Detailed Mac and Windows instructions.
